Authors Among Us: Real Life, Real Stories

Thursday, November 6 2025, 6–7:30pm

Come to meet and hear our local authors who will talk about their books, writing process, and publishing experience.

  • Debbie Holmes has dedicated her life to helping others as an educator, speaker, and author of How to Help Others Without Losing Yourself. For the past 30 years, Debbie has taught academics, life skills, and supported career transitions to youth and adults in the Surrey School District. Debbie will be reading from her book How to Help Others Without Losing Yourself.
  • Una Bruhns was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, and immigrated to Canada in 1969. She resides in New Westminster. Una is an author, poet, and a Sakura/Haiku and Tanka award winner. She is a photographer, videographer, documentarian, and visual artist. Una was awarded a Community Ambassador Award by the Writers International Network (WIN Canada). She also dabbles in water colour painting and acrylic paint pouring. Una will be reading from her book Apartheid.
  • From globetrotting adventures to a life of crime, from violence and prison to drugs and alcohol, from carefree living to the realities of terminal illness, Mino Pavlic’s world was a living nightmare. In the words of Mino himself: “Since becoming a born again Christian twenty years ago, my number one passion is telling what only God could have done in my life. Unquestionably, God stepped into my living nightmare and turned it completely around, as my life truly represented the hopelessness of a ruined life! Even if I had wanted to, it never was a question of me turning my life around, but rather when and where it was going to hit the brick wall for the final time. The story of my life is an incredible journey of redemption, deliverance, healing, and unbelievable transformations.” Mino will be reading from his book From the Unimaginable to the Extraordinary

Authors will be selling books at the end of the event (if you would like to purchase – bring cash)
