Indigenous Family History
Researching connections to Aboriginal, Métis, and Inuit ancestors can be especially challenging, as written records are not always easy to locate. You follow the trail through vital statistics, church documents, census records, and personal family trees posted on-line, and along the way discover intriguing questions as well as some brick walls. Fact or story - some things can be verified, but some will remain interesting bits of family lore.
Join Sharon Syrette, writer, published author, and current community engagement volunteer for the Mission Genealogy Club to learn about Indigenous family history research. Those new to creating a family tree will be inspired to get started, while more experienced researchers seeking answers will learn new sources and skills.
Please bring a copy of your family tree chart, along with questions and challenges.
