Surrey Libraries Closed on Sept 30 for National Day of Truth and Reconciliation

September 30 marks the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, as announced by the Federal Government on July 7. The intent of this day is to provide Canadians the opportunity to recognize and commemorate the legacy of residential schools. Surrey Libraries wishes to support meaningful reflection on the history and legacy of residential schools, and to honour Indigenous communities, family and survivors through the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. Therefore, in alignment with other municipalities and BC’s move to mark September 30 as a day of commemoration, Surrey Libraries will observe September 30 as a statutory holiday in 2021.
