Let family literacy take priority this January

It's time to make it count during Family Literacy Week!

Family Literacy Week is happening January 22-29, 2023. This year's theme is "Make it count. Play * Sort * Measure." Numeracy is everywhere. Children start using math the moment they start exploring the world. Sorting, counting and measuring are ways of playing with math. Helping your child develop strong early numeracy skills builds their confidence, develops vocabulary and sets them up for success.

Visit a Surrey Libraries branch during January to learn about the importance of reading and playing together and discover fun, literacy-related activities.

  • Take part in interactive family literacy and numeracy displays
  • Pick up a family literacy activity booklet
  • Discover a new program! We have book clubs for everyone, storytimes (online and in-person), and more
  • New parent? Ask for a Read to Baby early literacy kit and check out our Start with Stories early literacy video series
