A tale of environment, industry, family, love, and survival

Longlisted for the 2019 Scotiabank Giller Prize, Greenwood by Michael Christie opens in the year 2038 on a remote island off the coast of British Columbia at a resort of old-growth forest, some of the last remaining on a dust-ravaged planet. Like the rings of a tree, the story spirals backwards in time following the Greenwood family to 2008, 1974, 1934, and 1908. A tale of environment, industry, family, love, and survival—I absolutely loved it. (Submitted by Meghan)
