I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys weird and unusual fiction

I listened to Fever Dream by Samanta Schweblin on Libby based on a recommendation for a horror story. I am not sure that Fever Dream is really a horror story, but it is engrossing and very unsettling. The novella is, as the title suggests, a fever dream experienced by a dying woman, Amanda, in a rural town. The narrative is unfocused and unreliable, just like you would expect from someone in the depths of a fever, but the imagery of horses and worms and children seem completely real. I'm not sure if I have read or listened to anything quite like it but I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys weird and unusual fiction. Other agree as well, it won the Man Booker prize in 2017 (Submitted by Colin)
