Surrey Libraries Celebrates Family Literacy Day

On Thurs, Jan 27 we invite you into our branches to learn about the importance of reading together as a family, and engaging in literacy-related activities.

Participate in conversations about what literacy practices you do at home and share your favourite books with others.

Learn about library programs that encourage family bonding, and don’t forget to pick up a free copy of the Early Literacy Calendar, which contains twelve months of learning activities, book lists, nursery rhymes, and more!

Ways to celebrate Family Literacy Day this year

  1. Plan a trip to your local Surrey Libraries branch. Make visiting the library a fun, and enjoyable outing for your family.
  2. Join a book club! Book clubs are great ways to develop reading habits and the library has many online book clubs for you to enjoy from the comfort of your home.
  3. Participate in a storytime. Attend one of the library’s many online storytimes, including Toddler and Babytime.
  4. Create a special place in your home dedicated to reading! Make sure your library books are close by and encourage your family to use the space often.

Help celebrate Family Literacy Day with Surrey Libraries and encourage life-long learning with your family!
