Semiahmoo Library is proud to be displaying works by the Peninsula Sketchers for the month of August.

Peninsula Sketchers:

Our aim is to promote drawing and meet and support other sketchers in a relaxed, friendly environment.

A number of years ago some students of the late Mike Smyth, a talented  drawing instructor at the White Rock Community Centre, got together weekly with him to sketch … at the mall, in parks, coffee shops. etc.  Mike had a dream that the group would get a permanent weekly location. The White Rock Community Centre was approached after his passing and they made this possible in 2012 offering a drop-in drawing program.

Participants are encouraged to bring in and work on whatever project they wish - sketching in pencil, pen and ink, coloured pencil, etc.   There is no instructor or head of the group and beginners draw alongside those with more sketching experience.  A few items have been collected as still-life objects and there are a number of drawing instruction books available to borrow.

White Rock Community Centre

15124 Russell Avenue

Fridays - 1 - 3 pm.

Drop-in fees:

$2.00 for White Rock Community Centre members

$3.00  for non-members
