Fleetwood Library is proud to be displaying the photography of Jim Hatch during March and April 2019
Jim Hatch born in Vancouver, BC and raised in Burnaby, in grade 8, Jim signed up for photography classes and learned to photograph friends and sports activities. While continuing to photograph and learn new techniques Jim took some correspondence courses for photography from a New York school. An opportunity to freelance for a newspaper in Kelowna Jim provided public interest shots of the surrounding area for publishing.
Joining the Langley Camera Club in 2001 and becoming a member of CAPA, Canadian Association of Photographic Artists, in 2003 Jim entered monthly competitions and national contests earning awards and medals. Jim has been published in the Canadian Camera Magazine fifteen times and has earned 10 gold medals, 5 silver and 4 bronze to date. Jim's work has recently been featured in art shows at the Surrey Cultural Centre and ABC Art Gallery and on the front cover of the Surrey Arts magazine. Jim enjoys spending his spare time shooting numerous sporting events in the lower mainland and his photos can be viewed on his Facebook page.
Jim Hatch is a wealth of information, technical and artistic, willing to share his time and knowledge to teach others.
