Authors Among Us

Come to meet and hear our local writers. Our theme  is Be Quick: Short Stories & Poetry.

  • Asel Omar is the author of multiple works, both poetry and short stories: Credo (1998), Early Colds (2007), The Blue Wolf (2009), and The Amulet of Tengri (2012). Asel has lived in Almaty, Kazakhstan and Moscow, Russia. *Note: A sample of Asel’s translated works would be available at the Guildford Library’s Information Desk, at the beginning of September 2019
  • Philip Huynh, local writer, who recently published a collection of short stories titled: The Forbidden Purple City. Philip is a practicing lawyer; he lives in Richmond, BC. He was born in Vancouver to parents who had fled Vietnam during the civil war.
  • Jennifer Zilm is a writer and librarian, working and living in Surrey, BC. She authored 3 books of poetry: The Missing Field (2018), Waiting Room (2016), and The Whole and Broken Yellows: Van Gogh Poems and Others (2013)

Refreshments will be provided.

Authors will be selling books at the end of the event (if you’d like to purchase – bring cash)

Adults and teens are welcome.
